Hibernation

Feels a little like that lately...

conserving energy...slow metabolic rate and a reduction in body temperature...

two photos of the yard taken yesterday...the pedastal of my bird bath and

my french measuring stick

garden hose guide...

but hibernation is not all bad...I'm dreaming and planning!

This long, harsh winter has given me the determination to plan like never before for the

'I know it will come' garden season...

(greenhouse dreaming)

Some seeds have been started on the kitchen windowsill...

(remember my Christmas boxwood pots? well I decided they had more work to do!)

and before the 'blizzards of 2010' I cut some lavender from my huge plants outside and I'm experimenting with 'rooting hormone'...

they don't look the greatest but I think a few will make it!
Now I'm waiting for seeds in the mail...
heirloom tomatoes & peppers and something new this year (for me)...

Irish moss!!

I can't wait to play with this stuff!
In between bricks in the paths, in pots, a little in the vegetable garden...
the description in the catalog says...
'it begs to be touched and patted'
oh, I can't wait!

I can hardly wait to plant the summer veggie garden. There is nothing like picking a tomato fresh from the vine. I'll never eat a store bought tomato again. Happy gardening!

I've been thinking about doing a bit of planting indoors too! I love Red Wire Vine....it's FABULOUS....I tried rooting it like ivy, but it didn't make it. I asked at the nursery...they told me to just stick a clipping into the dirt so I'm going to give that a try. It works for topiaries too....can't wait to give that a shot. Where did you find the Irish moss? That looks like fun!

Warm blessings,
Spencer

You sure know how to get me psyched up for Spring! You have a much greener thumb than I do! Please bring your green thumb with you Tuesday.
;)

Irish moss from a catalog? Whose catalog? Have you tried to grow wooly thyme before? I haven't had much luck with that.

You have a much greener thumb than I do, but now you've got me wanting to plant something!

I'd like to see the catalog with the Irish moss in it (hint, hint).

Have you tried to grow wooly thyme? It's beautiful for in between cracks and crevices.

I just put some seeds in those box containers you buy, we dont have snow so my roses are already growing new leaves. I do wish we had a little snow, it is soooo pretty. Stay warm.

Oh Paula Sweetie...
Can you come out of there and play? Can you hear me in there? I don't know you are so covered in snow. Ha! Ha! Ha! Oh sweetie I just couldn't resist.

We had been having beautiful 70(ish) weather. Today it is cold and rainy. Well in the 50's. Boo hoo right> I know I should be complaining right? Well I am. I want my sunshine back please.

Love it. I love your gardening experiments. How wonderful they are. Irish moss? Ooh let me know about this. How wonderful that could be under your feet. I have lots of stepping stones, and I could sure use some moss I think.

What magazine did you order from? You plants in your pots in the windows look beautiful. I love looking at them. Green and alive for sure that SPRING is coming sweetie. Good comes to those who wait.

Country hugs and so much love...Sherry

Thank you for your sweet words & offers of prayers for the loss of my sweet Reba! THE HOUSE SCREAMS WITH QUIET! Her rugs are still there, the food bowl gone but, SHE is everywhere I look... yet no where to be found. My heart is broken & I feel so ALONE! But, kind words like yours help so much. I hope you come back for another visit when my blog will be a happier place. I always pride myself in it being a happy upbeat place. But, life does deal you a bummmmmm hand once in awhile & you have to just deal with the pain for awhile & pick your self back up. Thank you for your sweet words & prayers. HUGS! Charlene

Boy, Paula, your post certainly is making me long for spring in a big way. I'm going to have tons to do in my gardens this year. I was lazy last fall. I never even got around to "cleaning out" and "putting to bed" my vegetable garden!
