Growing Groceries

Big new project going on here...it wasn't supposed to be such a big project, but it is now.
I just wanted a garden, a vegetable garden, a real vegetable garden...not too much to ask right?
Well it began a couple of weeks ago...

Keep going hunny! You're doing great!

Just look at the determination on this guy!!!

Well we've worked the soil...and continue to work it!

I'm planning on lot's of veggies...tomatoes, peppers, squash, cukes, spinach, chard, beets...oh the list goes on! Hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew! (pun intended!!)
Behind this area is a sweet little lean-to you can't see that I'm turning into sort of a summer studio...I'll post pics when it's done :)
I couldn't decide on a color but when I opened my email yesterday from Ballard Designs I saw this...

and thought...eureka! that's my color! charteuse...I just love it!
and I must have those pots in that color, but they are way out of my budget so of course I'm recreating the look with my pots...working with different greens, yellows and glazes, then I'm going to add a high gloss varnish to get the look of fine pottery...I'll let you know how that comes out too!
Wishing all a pretty weekend with lot's of sunshine!!

Blog Party and the SUN is out!

Finally...after several days of rain and clouds...(see my last post, 'mondays'...rain had alot to do with that!) ...the sun is out in full force and the sky is BLUE!

A great day for a blog party with a blue theme!

Thought I'd share my favorite room...my blue porch, inspired by Betty Lou Phillips cover of French Influences...

I did this porch several years ago and it remains my favorite place to sit with morning coffee...

I loved the leaded windows and although I couldn't have that I did faux lead my door (painted a striking black!)....

I built the bench, made the cushions and laid a faux black marble floor...

I sit here amongst my cherubs as we wait for gardening weather!

waiting for this years basil to grow....

and my two year old lavender to BLOOM!

Wishing all of you a bright and sunny day!

Pay No Attention to that Man Behind the Curtain!

that's what I said to myself yesterday when I walked by the tv, the news was on.

methinks they are bound and determined to depress me, or at the very least scare us to death!
...so I thought, (as I clicked the power button on the remote)...

"hmmmm....pay no attention to that man behind the curtain"

it's much more fun to close your eyes, click your heels and repeat......

....there's no place like home...there's no place like home.....

even if home looks like this....

I try to put things away...but they keep coming back out!

I'll be away from ebay this week as I'm busy working on several orders...(yay!) but as I sit and paint my mind is wandering from one idea to another for my next 'original work' sign.

Soooo ready for beach season....last weekend I got to help out getting our Delaware beaches ready for the season...I was part of a group of volunteers that planted beach grass all along out beautiful shores....

I was assigned to Bethany Beach, one of my favorites!

Hundreds of volunteers showed up and it was so much fun!...afterwards I took the rest of the day to myself and went antiquing and thrifting...now I was really having fun!
A fun store at Bethany, 'Jane, Sweet Jane' wasn't open but I snapped a picture cuz I just love their pink building and sign!

one more thing before I go...
the 2nd issue of "Blissfully Traveled " is out...

à tout à l'heure!
